Differentials

Convexity Subarachnoid 1

  1. CAA (39%)
  2. Reversible Cerebral Vasoconstriction Syndrome (17%)
  3. Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis (10%)
  4. Large-vessel stenotic atherosclerosis (10%)
  5. Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy (5%)
  6. Some idiopathic - esp in elderly.

Based on 6ys of consecutive SAH codes in South Australia. n=742 but only 41(6%) were convexal.
They suggest this is underdiagnosed and is more likely 15%.

Others say AVM, mycotic aneurysms, cortical sinus thrombosis and hypertension are also possible causes.
